March Meeting

Speed Networking

The full scope of how members could be valuable as personal and professional contacts is not always apparent. Because NSPWA wants to further enable all members and guests to get to know each other more quickly, the March meeting will feature a "speed networking" event. Speed networking allows each participant to introduce herself to both members and guests as they move along in approximately two minute intervals. No one is missed because of time constraints. It promises
to be an interesting evening of discovering new contacts and potential business associates, since NSPWA members come from a variety of fields, whether solo firms or corporate communities.

*First Time Guest Special*
Starting March, $5.00 off 1 Year membership for Guests who sign up at
their first visit.

Guest Policy
We welcome guests to attend one to two NSPWA meetings to decide
whether the group is the right fit for them.

April Meeting

Staying Alive: Street Smarts for Home and Business

Jill Morgenthaler, Retired U.S. Army Colonel and current President of CJMI, a local homeland security consulting firm, will present "Staying Alive: Street Smarts for Home and Business". Having survived the
streets of Sarajevo, Bagdad, and Chicago, she will show how to identify the warning signals of a potential attacker and recommend strategies for dealing with the problem before it becomes
life-threatening.

Colonel Morgenthaler, who in the past has also served as Illinois Homeland Security Director, will cover the signs bad guys give when choosing a victim, the indications that someone may turn violent in
the workplace, and methods to escape alive. Handouts will include how to respond if there is an active shooter in the vicinity.

Meeting Cost Increase

The Board of North Shore Professional Women's Association has worked very hard to keep dues low and make our meetings very affordable for our members and guests during the current economic hardship.  However, due to increasing costs our dues and reduced meeting fees do not cover all of the group's expenses. Therefore the Board has decided to implement a slight increase in the cost for attending each meeting.  Effective for the April meeting, the cost will be $20 for members who RSVP and $25 for guests and at the door.  This is still a very reasonable amount for the meeting and the high quality meal that is provided.

Increased membership numbers would greatly help our financial situation and at only $105 for benefits such as reduced meeting fees, online directory listing and most importantly the networking opportunities, the cost is an excellent value.  So, if you haven't yet renewed, or you've been attending as a guest, now is the time to renew or make a commitment to membership with North Shore Professional Women's Association.

Dinner Refund Policy
We regret that we cannot provide refunds for dinner reservations, unless cancelled (by phone 847-919-7962 or e-mail ) by 9:00 a.m. on the Tuesday morning preceding the Wednesday evening meeting. Likewise, we are unable to provide "rainchecks" for any last minute missed meetings. We have a financial obligation to pay the club for meals reserved, and our treasury is unable to absorb the costs associated with late cancellations and no-shows. You may, however, send a friend or associate in your place to utilize your reservation. Thank you for your understanding.
